Per verificare il calibro, una forza di compressione di 1N é applicata sul filo rigi-do in acciaio nella direzione del suo asse: le caratteristiche della molla calibrata interna devono essere tali che le superfici A-A¢ e B-B¢ si trovano praticamente nello stesso piano quando questa forza è applicata.
